Pirihira is from Ngāti Tūwharetoa, where she was born and raised. She moved to Rotorua in her youth where she completed secondary school.
Pirihira loves what she does every day - supporting rangatahi - so it doesn't feel like work. In saying that, she is faced with some challenges, but working with amazing people gives her the confidence to face those challenges head on. Knowing that everything she is doing is for the betterment of rangatahi makes it all worth it.
Pirihira is continuously exploring what she is passionate about. Anything and everything to do with te ao Māori is what she loves. It’s richness is what inspires her to keep exploring and expanding her knowledge. There is always something new to learn!
Sports and reading have been constant hobbies, but nowadays she is into scrapbooking. Her hobbies change all the time; she just loves to try new things. She has previously worked for Government in the financial sector, as well as in hospitality.
A message to her younger self...
Don't be afraid to lead as rangatahi as you are fed by a long line of greatness.
